About Me
I’m a self-taught User Interface Designer from London, England. Despite attending London College of Communications where I hold a Diploma in Digital Printing and then later University of East London where I attended a combined Visual Arts and Graphic Design course, I picked up design theory, work-flow management and how to master software from experimenting with personal projects at an early age.
My typical day involves reading articles on Google Reader and see what’s being posted from my favourite technology and design blogs. I then spend time on Google+ where I see what interesting things people in my circles are posting. And finally I will end up inside Photoshop, Illustrator or Fireworks for the entire day working on designing user interfaces. I’ll then spend the afternoon reading books to improve my knowledge and go over some tutorials.
Interests
Web Design: I have a love for rich social web apps that bring new meaning to how people use technology to benefit their daily lives. In terms of UI I appreciate well-designed clean websites that aren’t just generic styles but unique and leaves an impression on the user. I also appreciate good use of branding and the way information is presented.
Photography: My first camera I ever owned was an early 90s Polaroid-style camera for children (not the original Polaroid unfortunately) that took small thumb size photos. I guess it was then that I discovered an interested in ‘capturing moments’ because it was all I ever did. But it was several decades later that I would discover my real passion for photography when I owned my first proper mobile phone, a Sony Ericsson W800i and then the Nokia N95.
Technology: As a child who grew up in the early 90s I would watch The Jetsons and Inspector Gadget everyday as was fascinated with technology and the futuristic world I might live in (Still waiting for my flying car!) I have always been fascinated with technology because of it’s mystery. As a child I didn’t know how an Amiga or Nintendo really worked in the technical sense but I did know that performing certain tasks would provoke a response and it is this emotional language being exchanged when we interact with technology that is an area that I am fascinated by.
