In today’s congested online highway—the Internet. The place where so many are screaming out for attention almost like spoilt teenagers, learning how to brand yourself properly and stand out from the crowd is vital!. When it comes to branding yourself online your main goal is to reach as many targeted people as possible who are going to remember WHO YOU ARE and WHAT YOU DO.

In order for you to do this, you must make sure you have done the  following.

Create Your Real-Estate:

Register a domain name as your full name. Ensure all your usernames on your social networking sites are the same, preferably your own name as well. You want to do this so you are easily found. Usernames are sometimes referred to as ‘real-estate’ because they are lucrative to ones own brand which is an investment much like real-estate.

* You can use username search tools which scan multiple social networking sites to confirm whether or not your desired username is taken or available. These are just a few, http://knowem.com/ http://namechk.com/

Create Your Home:

Now that you have some real-estate, you want to build your home… Every person needs a home, right? Well imagine your own personal blog as your home. A place where people can go to find out more about who you are. Not created a blog yet? Find out how to get one. After you have installed your blog onto your domain you will want to brand your blog (home) so you must decorate it to make it inviting. You also want to do this because it will give people a sense of what your personality is like, remember “people do business with whom they like and trust”.

As well as your blog, you also want to make sure you have a Facebook Fanpage. A fanpage is unlike a normal Facebook profile page as it is fully indexed by Google just like a normal webpage which means your brand will appear visible to many people and so you want to make sure you secure your username for your fan page as stated in the previous section. Read my article on How to brand your Facebook Fanpage.

Be Memorable:

The first thing in order to achieve this, is to upload a presentable yet unique professional photo which will become your avatar of yourself on all your social profiles. The key to appearing memorable to people is when they come across the same avatar on all your profiles, then they will be drawn to your profile and want to know more about you. Some key things to point out when choosing your avatar, make sure you’re smiling, use a portrait photo—a picture of just yourself, photo must be taken in a well-lit location, consider your backdrop and finally try to use a high resolution photo, preferably taken by a 10megapixel camera or higher. (webcam photos are usually low resolution and are not well suited for branding yourself as a professional)

On to the next thing, If you take a look at a lot of successful marketers, they usually use catchy slogans, taglines and phrases that they will  use when branding themselves online. When you come to do this, it should be relevant to what you do. Your key is to “be memorable and unforgettable”, A great way to do this is by associating your brand with an overall theme that you can use in your marketing, once you have a theme you can start to create catchy memorable taglines and phrases containing keywords relating to your theme. What you want to do next is start to incorporate your themes branding into all your content, such as any video series, article series or products you create.. (Try to be as creative and inventive as possible..)

Be Active Online!:

This is the one thing people forget to do and is the most important. Social Media primarily focuses around the idea that community is what brings life to what we see on the Internet on a daily basis. This is why we have social networks like Facebook and Twitter now integrating their live feeds into Google’s search engine. So you want to make sure that you are engaging in the conversation by remembering to constantly be uploading fresh new content to your blog and automatically syndicating and distributing your posts across multiple sites using services like OnlyWire Wordpress Button.

Next, you want to create a list on your Facebook and Twitter account where you will add all the people who you believe are influential-types in your niche or industry, these could be professional entrepreneurs, top income earners or anyone who you believe attracts a lot of people who may be interested in what you are doing. After you have done this, what you want to do is spend around 10-15 minutes per day going through this list and interacting with these people simply by commenting on their posts, communicating with them and providing them with something of value, could be a tip on how to do something, interesting motivational quotes or perhaps a blog post they might find useful and so on. The more you do this the more people start to take notice of you and think of you as a leader, someone they can follow and help guide them to success.

To your Success,
